St. Andrew's psychosocial services works through a number of different programs to assist refugees and other vulnerable migrants who are in need of support with social, medical, and mental health needs, such as shelter, medical assistance, community support, education, and general well-being and integration in Cairo. Our goal is to support those in highest need to overcome barriers to meeting their basic needs. Role
Under the supervision of the Psychosocial Services Director, the Adults and Families Program Coordinator is responsible for managing the provision of individual psychosocial support to adults and families. This includes developing effective programming and providing guidance and support to a team of psychosocial caseworkers from different refugee communities for effective delivery of comprehensive psychosocial services for vulnerable refugees and other migrants. Responsibilities
All duties are carried out under the supervision of the Psychosocial Services (PS) Director, or the Executive Director of StARS. Staff and supervision
To recruit, train, supervise and support the Adults and Families Psychosocial Program (AFP) psychosocial caseworkers, ensuring that AFP operates effectively and efficiently and provides comprehensive and fair assistance to clients.
To organize and facilitate weekly team meetings and regular supervision sessions with caseworkers.
To appraise and provide feedback and guidance to caseworkers, focusing in the development of their skills, and set up/access training to meet the identified needs of the team and individuals.
To provide intensive coaching and supervision to senior caseworkers, and to appropriately delegate tasks to senior staff.
To work on team building and cooperation between caseworkers and with all PS staff in collaboration with PS Director and UCY Program Coordinator.
To support AFP caseworkers in adopting and maintaining adequate self-care strategies.
To ensure that all members of AFP carry out tasks in accordance with StARS policies and procedures. Clients and communities
To oversee the work and caseloads of the AFP caseworkers in individual case management, as well as the functioning of the on call system.
To maintain a small caseload of particularly vulnerable clients.
To provide casework supervision for staff and volunteers by assigning cases, monitoring caseloads and organizing regular individual and group supervision.
To support caseworkers in making effective referrals to and inquiries with other service providers and finding responses to individual cases.
To assist in ongoing psychosocial group activities for adults and families; including working together with AFP caseworkers, the Psychosocial Groups Coordinator and the PS Director to develop additional group and psycho-educational activities responding to the needs of AFP clients.
To cooperate with the PS Director, all PS and St. Andrew’s programs to maintain and develop cooperative relationships with different refugee communities, including assisting community groups with relevant information sessions, trainings and workshops; and in assisting their most vulnerable community members.
To increase community connections for referrals and community support to individual AFP clients. Networking, Inter-agency and Advocacy
To create and maintain cooperative relationships with UNHCR-Cairo and its implementing partners, NGOs, INGOs, CBOs, religious groups and other bodies in Egypt and abroad that work with refugees to improve service provision and increase awareness and response to psychosocial issues of refugee populations.
To maintain an in-depth understanding of local, regional, and global trends in refugee displacement and work to ensure that psychosocial services benefit from the best practices of other agencies engaged in similar programming.
To identify gaps in services and work with the PS Director to identify potential partners responding to such needs.
To promote awareness of refugee protection issues throughout StARS and with external audiences both at the local and international level in coordination with StARS management. Programming
To further develop case management procedures and tools in support to psychosocial casework with adults and families.
To support the PS Director in development and implementation of psychosocial policies and procedures.
To develop and revise monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, working with the PS Director and StARS M&E Officer.
To implement and revise a work plan for the AFP in coordination with the Director of Psychosocial services.
To organize training on mental health, SGBV response, case management and emergency support and other areas as appropriate for newly appointed AFP staff.
To contribute to continuing training for StARS staff and other partner organizations in cooperation with the PS Director and other St. Andrew’ s programs and partners as needed. Administration
To attend staff meetings, management meetings, and other internal meetings as appropriate.
To provide monthly and quarterly statistics and reports to the Director of Psychosocial Services relating to the activity of the program.
To ensure that clear, accurate and comprehensive records of all client contacts and interventions are maintained and that follow up work is carried out promptly and efficiently.
To manage budgets for the AFP team expenses, keeping accurate track and reporting to the PS Director.
To assist St. Andrew’s management team in writing project proposals and fundraising. Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate will be energetic, with wide knowledge and understanding of psychosocial needs of refugee populations and service provision. She or he will have demonstrated a firm commitment to human rights and refugee issues, and to gender equality.
English being the official language of StARS’ office, the AFP coordinator must be fluent in both oral and written English. Arabic or a relevant language spoken by refugee populations in Cairo (Somali, Amharic, Oromo, Tigrinya) is an advantage.
A Bachelor’s degree in psychology or social work, or other related field. Extensive work experience in a related field may also be considered. A Master’s degree or demonstrated equivalence in social work, Psychology, or social sciences is an asset.
A minimum of two years experience working in human rights and/or with refugees or migrants.
Program management experience including recruitment, training, supervision, staff evaluation and feedback, results tracking and reporting.
Experience in case management and the provision of psychosocial services to vulnerable groups of society and / or refugees.
A proven ability to lead and motivate team members and to cooperate with peers and supervisor.
A proven ability to communicate effectively, along with diplomacy and assertiveness; the ability to confront and discuss sensitive issues with respect and care.
Ability to think creatively, solve problems and work well independently as well as in groups.
An understanding of the impact of different cultural actors on professional work and an ability to work in multi-cultural environments.
Able to prioritize work, multi-task and meet deadlines.
Maturity and discretion, able to work with, and maintain confidential information.
Salary: 4000-4700 EGP (additionally 100 EGP/month medical allowance), depends on experience, comparable to local NGO positions with similar responsibilities.

The AFP Program Coordinator is expected to work 40 hours per week, including breaks (longer hours, evening and weekend work sometimes necessary) between the hours of 9am and 5pm from Sunday to Thursday. **To apply:
