Liberia: Driver

The Embassy of Ireland in the Republic of Liberia opened in June 2018. The Embassy incorporates and will advance the work of the previous Development Cooperation Office/Irish Aid which was established in Monrovia in 2010. In this period of expansion, the Embassy is recruiting a driver.

The duties and responsibilities of the driver will include:

  • Driving service for staff of the Embassy of Ireland relating to routine work associated with the functions of the Embassy, official events, the airport and other locations as directed;

  • Driving service for Embassy of Ireland/Irish Aid staff on monitoring visits, project site visits;

  • Distribution and collection of official materials including correspondence, invitations, visas;

  • Together with Embassy staff, ensuring all passengers are aware of the safety standards for travel in Embassy vehicles;

  • Maintaining information on the use of the vehicle including daily logs.

The candidate is required to have:

  • Minimum five years’ experience as a professional driver;

  • High-level certification in driver safety, operating in hazardous environments or similar;

  • Current, valid driving license for Liberia;

  • Good writing and numerical skills;

  • Strong communication skills;

  • Eligibility to work in Liberia.

It would be desirable if the candidate had:

  • Advanced qualifications relating to driver safety;

  • Previous experience working for a diplomatic mission or multilateral agency.

The position is a full-time position of 38 hours per week. Occasional late working or attendance at work-related events outside of working hours is required. Occasional travel outside of Monrovia will be required. The Embassy of Ireland is an equal opportunities employer and applicants from women are encouraged. Canvassing for the position is not allowed.
